November 30, 2020 at 06:06 AMBravo to Professor Petrovsky and the team at Vaxine for their brilliant vaccine work over the years. We support you! As a Cell Biologist (+ Public Health, Preventative Medicine, Adelaide University) I singled you out as the superior platform for Covid-19 over all the others in development around the world, quite early on. And, I have been disappointed by the lack of Australian Government funding and support for your efforts. I have written to government ministers on your behalf. After listening to this podcast, I worry that your safe and effective Protein recombinant vaccine will not be available to us here in Australia. Can you reassure me that a supply, either Government subsidied or private, will be an option for Australian citizens? Or will we be forced to take an inferior vaccine from one of the big Pharma companies because of political and government business “deals”.

December 8, 2020 at 12:10 AMThanks for your support. We continue to lobby the Australian government to try and get a fair go for our Covax-19 vaccine, but with very little success with them instead awarding billions of dollars to our largest competitor CSL, to produce vaccine they didn’t even develop. Monopolistic practices and pandemic profiteering at its very worst. All at the cost of Australian taxpayers. We believe this reflects poorly on the integrity of the Federal Health Department and their decision making processes.
Nevertheless we are pushing forward as hard as we can and definitely will do everything in our power to try and ensure our vaccine if successful is made available in Australia if only on the private market.

December 12, 2020 at 10:41 AMThank you for your reply. I agree entirely! Took the words right out of my mouth – and my emails to the powers that be in both State and Federal Govenments. With recent events regarding the withdrawal of the UQ (CSL) vaccine from contention, let’s hope funding and support is funnelled to your COVAX-19 vaccine, as the only viable Australian option – and you can scale up your efforts. All other vaccines coming onto the market in the short term have problems, side effects, and challenges of various ilk. It will be the Recombinant Protein vaccines like yours (and Dr. Peter Hotez in the US) who will win the day and deliver the world from the pandemic. So, stay the course and take heart, you are on the right track – especially as your core values are ethical and not for profit. I and my family and friends support you… Stay strong and keep the faith. Thanks for the reassurance about availability of your vaccine in Australia.
